Itsmy launches gaming service for TVs

Gaming portal Itsmy has announced a cloud-based gaming service aimed at smart TVs and set top boxes.

Itsmy is a web portal for fans of casual games you can play in your web browser. Unlike many casual gaming sites, Itsmy games are written in HTML5 rather than the resource-hungry Flash, which makes them suitable for running on smart TVs and set top boxes with modern, standards-compliant browsers.

With connected TV booming, streaming games services like Gaikai or OnLive are looking to take advantage and provide TV viewers with games through their TVs. These services do require a fast internet connection though, which is one area Itsmy’s HTML5-based games  have a clear advantage.

“In contrast to the online streaming services, we have developed our cloud platform in HTML5 which runs perfectly with low and high bandwidth,” said Itsmy’s Jukka Saarelainen.

“Our server side platform technology enables us to deliver on the fly the best possible HTML5 code to guarantee high-class gaming fun.”

No TVs are bundling Itsmy’s games as apps as yet, but pointing your TV browser to Itsmy.tv should auto-detect your brand and model number and present you with a list of games suitable for your hardware.
